As our Supervising Editor, you will play an essential role within the 4D Design Discipline of GMR's Experience Design team. You will be instrumental in developing and succeeding the agency's Video Editing and Time-Based Media disciplines. In your partnership, the Supervising Editor will guide the Video Editing Discipline's growth, improve the artistry of our Video Editing craft, establish agency processes and workflows, and consult on video, story, and time-based media solutions. To thrive in this role, you will extend from discipline manager to hands-on editor, driving the growth of the Video Editing discipline and executing client programs.

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Discipline Growth: You will guide the growth of the video editing discipline, which includes improving the artistry of our video editing craft, establishing agency processes and workflows, and consulting on video, story, and time-based media solutions.
  • Training and Advocacy: You will lead internal agency talent to improve their video editing capabilities, as well as act as an advocate for the importance of the video editing craft within content creation. This will include leading XD teams through brainstorming, ideation, and planning of video projects alongside producers.
  • Technical Expertise: You will be the agency’s go-to resource for video editing tools, best practices, and techniques. You possess a strong background in sound design, foley, and the application of music and VO. You have a technical understanding of camera operation and an artistic point of view on photography/videography techniques (color, lighting, framing, camera movement, etc. 
  • Maker - Video Editing: You have a wide range of expert professional editing experience at agencies, production houses, and brands. You will work as the lead editor on several content projects, partnering with Content Producers, creative leadership, and client teams to create the highest quality video content. You’re comfortable working with video editing and design software like Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve, and you understand After Effects integrations and sound design (SFX, foley, audio mixing). Bonus points if you can capture client activations and events needed for GMR communication and portfolio. You will guide the necessary hardware and software to accomplish desired tasks.
  • Quality Control: You will ensure deliverables stand up to the best quality. Provide feedback on video projects, including technique, story, sound design, brand positioning, and general quality standards.
  • Management of External Vendors: You will connect between internal teams and outside vendors, including production houses and freelancers. You will oversee the development of their work, ensuring quality and consistency and translating creative direction and client feedback to vendors.
  • Innovation: You will consistently seek new tools, techniques, treatments, and trends across the content landscape. You will work with 4D Design leadership to implement new tools and processes that enhance our quality and progressive taste. Inclusive of new workflow efficiencies through software and AI platforms.

The annual range for this role varies between $85,000- $110,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s experience. Benefits for this role include health/vision/dental insurance, 401k, employee stock purchase plan, vacation, personal days and paid holiday time. You are also eligible to participate in disability, life insurance, FSA/HSA plans subject to the terms and conditions of such benefit plans.
