    This position is responsible for overseeing GMR Charlotte’s New Business efforts, ultimately leading to new accounts and revenue for GMR Charlotte. This role reports directly into the SVP, Client Services + Consulting.




    • Prospect for new business opportunities in the experiential, event marketing, and sports and entertainment sponsorship industries by leveraging existing brand relationships and by networking with industry leaders.
      • Use GMR specific expert knowledge to direct business relationships with clients and prospects, to grow new and existing business.
      • Use industry knowledge in: experiential marketing, event marketing, and sports and entertainment expertise to leverage business relationships with clients and property fields
      • Direct formal and informal business development meetings with prospects to gain understanding of their marketing vision


    • Actively navigate the Omnicom network to build strategic partnerships with other agencies, and driving new business opportunities through which services GMR can support them and their clients
      • Build network of executive leadership contacts with other marketing agencies within Omnicom through formal and informal meetings
      • Use formal and informal meetings to gain expert knowledge of the offerings of other Omnicom agencies that will be a best match for clients and prospects
      • Use formal and informal meetings to leverage the different offerings of GMR and partner Omnicom agencies to build the best in class, collaborative, innovative solutions for common business objectives for clients and prospects globally at events such as Super Bowl, NBA All-Star Game, etc.


    • Build relationships with existing clients in the South/Southeast marketplace and support client services teams in their efforts to deliver organic business growth
      • Communicate business development findings with GMR's various subject matter expert departments such as Digital Solutions, Client Services and Consulting, Creative, and many other departments
      • Direct and grow relationships within GMR departments such as Client Services and Consulting, to direct delivery of existing client growth opportunities organically
      • Direct and partner with GMR's Client Services and Consulting to ensure Business Development directives are being achieved for the agency and for clients
      • Direct business meetings with existing clients and use information learned to continue to scope, direct and deliver work in partnership with Client Services and Consulting, Digital Solutions and Creative teams


    • Lead the development of materials in response to written RFP's and live pitches
      • Showcase subject matter expertise to lead live pitches and provide in the moment solutions, suggestions and innovations to client questions, concerns and curiosities
      • Lead the finalization of written RFP responses, slide decks, and direction which GMR leadership will present to the client, brand, agency or prospect
      • Work closely with GMR's Marketing & Communications (MarComm) team to ensure all materials meet agency standard prior to live pitch
      • Direct and innovate innovative ways to present information and ideas to clients, brands, agencies and property fields


    • Lead successful integration of resources across multiple departments and locations in response to new business opportunities
      • Direct and coordinate agency resources and departments across multiple GMR locations in the United States utilizing our Salesforce tracking database
      • Set up and lead conversations about client and prospect’s expectations across multiple agency departments for full understanding and integrated approach to client programs
      • Ensure budgeting is directed and communicated between Business Development, Finance, and other departments for cost containment for both GMR and the client
      • Lead a collaborative approach among leaders of various departments to keep the project in scope and on budget throughout
      • Communicate directives to other GMR leaders to ensure the project is understood by all levels of staff who touch the project
      • Innovate new inter-company processes for the most efficient and effective workflows between departments


    • Lead live presentations to prospective clients Conduct preliminary research on the client; their past marketing strategies, philosophy and approach, prior to live presentations
      • Gather and organize data from GMR's Research & Insights team about the marketplace in which the prospective client wants to activate in
      • Use the above research and prior relationship-building knowledge to lead innovative live presentations for the prospective clients
      • Lead the development and creation of all presentation materials, which includes collaboration and integration with multiple GMR departments for a holistic approach to an experiential marketing solution
      • Lead and direct follow up and feedback conversations with the client to continue to close the loop and grow the business


    • Lead servicing and integration of new client projects
      • Act as interim lead director to initiate partnership on newly acquired client engagements until a formal director is identified
      • Build foundation of overall agency scope of work including formulating project budget
      • Primary point of contact for communication with the client as well as communication between the client and agency departments
      • Collaborate across all departments on developing approach that aligns with the client vision
      • Once identified, fully transition project to formal director while continuing to maintain positive client relationship
      • Support onsite event execution and client management on new business projects


    • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of GMR past programming and current programming to provide the most relevant information / case studies / capabilities related to specific business development opportunities
      • Keep current with emerging experiential and sponsorship marketing/industry trends and best practices




    • Bachelor’s Degree or related or equivalent experience.
    • 7-10 years of relevant industry experience.
    • Demonstrate problem solving skills, stressing client service.
    • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment.
    • Interpersonal skills with the ability to meet and deal effectively with clients, prospects and internal stakeholders
    • Time-management skills.
    • Ability to manage budgets to level acceptable to client and GMR management.
    • Ability to prioritize and organize complex details of multiple programs.
    • Excellent composition skills (both oral and written).
