The Financial Accountant is responsible for the on-going general accounting functions for his/her assigned agencies.



You have a passion for numbers.  Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing duties as assigned, including but not limited to preparation of assigned journal entries, P&L and FRP schedules in Hyperion, and account reconciliations


You are detailed. Analyze actual monthly account activity and compare to budget, ensuring proper resolution and/or explanation of variances.  Assist with external audits as requested, including but not limited to gathering of sample population reports, retrieval of transactional documentation, and analysis


You are solution oriented.  Follow up on and appropriately resolve reconciling items in a timely manner


You are collaborative.  Work with accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reporting, project accounting, and client service personnel to ensure that transactions are recorded correctly and consistent with US GAAP and company policies

You are supportive.  Assist with preparation of annual budgets and monthly reforecasts.  Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.  Assist in fact-finding related to and/or documentation of identified accounting, financial, and operational issues



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of prior accounting experience in a related position
  • CPA designation is a plus
  • Public Accounting Experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of accounting concepts under US GAAP
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Experience completing basic financial analyses and account reconciliations
  • Solid mathematical skills and attention to detail / accuracy
  • Ability to key data accurately and with a reasonable speed using both 10-key and full keyboard
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, meet tight deadlines and work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees at all levels
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office 2007, with specific proficiency utilizing Excel
  • Ability to effectively and timely solve problems in a calm, professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude and work well with others
  • Experience using Hyperion, Deltek Costpoint and/or OnBase a plus
